Day #21 – Busy Mom’s Spring Cleaning Challenge

day21Day #21’s challenge is to clean your Oven and Stovetop!  We’re spending a lot of time on kitchen appliances this week.  My oven and stove top in particular have been in need of some focused attention.  Let’s just say I’m familiar with the embarrassed admission that “No, honey.  I’m not burning dinner.  It’s just… some old, gunked-on food at the bottom of the oven that’s burning.”  I’m just intentionally adding that whole coveted ‘smokehouse aroma’, right?

Besides being embarrassing, it’s also a fire hazard.  So let’s take care of those ovens and stoves!  Hang on while I throw a few different links at you.  Here’s my FAVORITE TUTORIAL on cleaning your stove top and here are 4 Different Ways to Clean Your Oven.  I hope you found them as helpful as I did!  Don’t forget to comment below when you finish!

Extra Credit Ideas for the Super Motivated:

Take some windex and clean the outside of your oven until it shines.  Then take that spray and rag and detail clean those knobs, digital display windows, and fingerprint covered buttons.  Now your oven is clean on the inside and out.  Be proud, ladies.  Be very proud.

I cleaned our oven for the first time in my life back on March 4th or so.
Thankful to have a cleaner house with my brother’s family coming tonight. Thanks for the motivation, Kelsey!

    All done.

Done. Just had to do the stove top since I was forced to clean my oven recently after a major butter spillage from a crust in my springform pan.

  4. Candice says:

All done! And perfect timing since last night the sweet potatoes dripped all over the bottom of the oven 🙂

Today turned out to be a crazy Friday! I did get to clean my oven though. Stove top and the oven door will happen tomorrow with my outside freezer!

    Happy Friday!

  6. Belita says:

Done with the stove top! I am planning on cleaning the oven when I get home this evening 🙂 Should I comment again when I’m finished with that?

Ugh, why did I wait 2 years to clean my oven. I use to have a self cleaning oven. But I used a baking soda paste. Let it sit for 30 min and it came right off. Now my oven racks are inthe tub soaking overnight with laundry detergent. I hope they are bright and shiny tomorrow like Pinterest promised.
